Tobias A. Fox, Managing Director, in collaboration with local growers will assist with the organization and coordination of the distribution and sale of produce to restaurants, charter schools and other learning institutions, faith organizations, bodegas & local markets, and farmers markets throughout Essex County.
To increase accessibility to fresh, healthy food in low to moderate income level communities such as Newark, Irvington, East Orange and Orange. The ultimate goal is for residents to become active and engaged in reshaping their environment while taking control of their health and growing their local food system. We plan to grow a generation of ecopreneurs and in doing so stimulate the growth of a local green economy, specifically in the area of urban agriculture.
Space will be made available at our agricultural sites to host an array of outdoor/indoor educational programs and/or hands-on training of garden cultivation education and management, with a focus on produce distribution.
Growers convene at least once a month as a think tank to discuss improved ways of obtaining and sharing of resources, materials and professional support to help sustain and grow our mission and achieve our overall goal.
